number of hours until disk is full

Hi you all,

I would like to create a report / query that shows the number of hours until a disk is full. Based on that report / query, i'd like to be able to set up an alert to trigger when a disk is n hours from being full.

I've been able to create a report showing the per hour % disk available for a volume, but not sure where to go from there. Can anyone give me a nudge in the right direction?

I suggest you start with the following:

you will need to make some assumptions

you select a tine window (x axis) that gives a good representation of the growth pattern.
the usage growth is linear over the selected time period

I hope this helps. I am planing to create a similar report sometime in the future

Are you familiar with the trending capability within Orion?

If you drill down to a volume chart for example and select the drop down for the chart to customize the chart and you can specify the option to use a custom time period. You can then specify a period in the future and using the least square algorithm, we will use historical data to trend it out.

Won't give you the alerting, but should allow you to partially satisfy your use case.

What kind of boxes are you looking to do this on?

yes, that certainly does work.

if it can be done in that chart then it should be no big deal to do it in a custom report and filter down to all the trends that will hit 100% within n hours?

Windows, Netapp and Linux volumes are involved.

sure, we have all kinds of profiler licenses. but it doesn't integrate into NPM and its alerting system right?
