How do I create a custom monitor?

I would like to create a custom monitor that runs a windows script. I don't want to use the Windows Script Monitor out of the box, since that requires me to paste my script over and over if I want to setup multiple templates using the same monitor. I assume there is a way to do this, since the "Custom Component Monitors" came from somewhere...

I'm not sure what you mean by "mulitple templates using the same monitor". Do you want to assign the same script to multiple servers? If so, a single template would be the thing to do. That template would apply to several servers. You'd only need to paste it once.

I suspect I'm missing something crucial here, though.

Did you ever find how to create a custom monitor? I would like to create one specific to SFTP and one for SSL. Cannot seem to find the answer.

If you want to create an SFTP monitor, you'll need to write a script in VB or Java, using the Windows or Linux script monitor.
