Exchange 2013 End to End SMTP Test?

Hi guys - any guidance on doing this with SAM? I'm about to start searching but maybe there's a bored soul who can point me in the right direction quicker ...

Just want to make sure this will test what we need, which is mailflow through Microsoft cloud based email gateway.

Will this check messages coming in through EOP?

Our MX record is bighugecompany-com.mail.protection.outlook.com for incoming mail

Outgoing mail is sent through a smart-host: bighugecompany-com.mail.protection.outlook.com

Looks like this would connect directly and not truly simulate their mail flow.

Outbound should work, but inbound needs to go through EOP also.

Can you confirm this?

Each of those User Experience Monitors allows you to configure the out-bound SMTP server to whatever you wish. The message is then retrieved from the mail server using the monitor protocol (POP3/IMAP4/etc.) provided the message was received by the mail server properly. This means I can send a message using say Gmail's SMTP server to my work email address and pick it up from my work email server. Truely similating the entire end-to-end mail flow.
