Remote vs. Local component

Does APM support a template assigned to a remote server and has a component that can execute a script on the local Solarwinds server as well as another component that executes on the remote server? We are converting Nagios scripts that execute locally on the Nagios server monitoring remote servers.

Hello Brandon,
there are two script monitors in APM - Windows Script Monitor and Linux Script Monitor.

Windows Script Monitor - specified script is always executed on Orion Server so you have to write it to access remote resources.

Linux Script Monitor - specified script is copied to target Node and executed there

If you assign Linux Script Monitor to remote node, it's executed on that remote node. If you assign Windows Script Monitor to remote node, it's executed on local Orion server. However you always get target Node's IP address and credentials as variables that you can use as script arguments.

yes this is what I was looking for. We will test it out. We will be running local perlscript on the local APM/Solarwinds machine which will be remotely connecting to a Linux box.
