Configuring Port Monitor

We have a windows server that connects to a Unix box on another network that we only have ICMP access to.

What I want to do is setup an APM for ports 7000 and 7001 and assign to the Windows server to test against the UNIX box every 5 minutes.

I thought about setting up a port monitor but that just tests from the APM server to the server configured in the monitor.

How best can I configure the APM to do the above monitoring?

One option available to you would be to write a PowerShell script to use your remote windows server as a jump host. The remote PowerShell script would execute on the remote Windows server and test against the Unix host. Unfortunately I don't believe anyone has shared such a script in the content exchange zone but it is technically feasible.

Another option if you're running Cisco routers would be to use IPSLA Manager to create an IPSLA TCP Port monitor operation on the gateway router, or other IOS router with access to the Unix host.

If these are your requirements then your only options are to install APM or an Orion additional poller on that Windows host, or develop a PowerShell script that executes on the Windows host. against the Unix host and returns the result to your APM server. As stated previously I'm not aware of any such script in the content exchange zone but it should be technically possible to accomplish.
