Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
Unable to get Polling Engine working
hoffa
Greetings
I've been trying all day to get Orion Polling Engine to start. For some reason it stopped gathering data sunday lunch and despite server restarts and service restarts the polling engine won't run for more than a few minutes.
We have a rather large database from years of running Orion, the current size is 37gb. However the database engine is SQL 2000 SP4 Standard Edition, shoudn't be a problem there. The server where Orion and the SQL in installed is a 2xdualCore Intel with 4gb RAM and has been running at idle all the time.
At the moment of writing I cannot even get Orion System Manager starting, the "Opening Orion database"-screen just freezes and nothing happens.
I am planning to move the database to a seperate server, as suggested by Solarwinds support to get netflow working, but thats a few weeks away and I need basic network monitoring to work until then.
Please help!

Have you tried running the Configuration Wizard again?

I've now broken out the database and placed it on a dedicated server and rerun Config Wizard. Same system specs on that server. I still have problems keeping Polling Engine running, especially when I activate Netflow.
