Web page images - display quality

Has anyone seen issues with the image/map resolution showing degraded? This has happened a few times in the past weeks. Everything else seems to be working fine, and all services are running. The maps show correctly in the Atlas program, so I'm not sure where the issue is.

I've seen this happen a few times now and the only way I can get it resolved is to reboot the server. I've tried restarting all of the relevant services on the polling/web server and no luck.

I know - reboot the server and move on, but some of the other groups here say "rebooting a server is not a fix - FIX IT!". I partially agree.

One of my co-workers rebooted the server and resolved the issue. I was trying to find the source, but lost that opportunity, until the next time this happens. Once it happens, it's like that for all images that are backgrounds for maps created using the Network Atlas tool. It doesn't matter if it's a GIF or JPG file. These are not linked files/URLs, but backgrounds to maps. The funny thing is links display fine (I have a URL displaying national weather radar from weather.com).

That's a network Atlas map - not a linked image. The funny part is, the linked URLs display fine.

We have not seen this yet. My first thoughts are insufficient memory or transmission error (if the background is Linked Background). Try to contact our support.

Another thing you could try but doesn't explain why this is happening is try .gif vs. .jpg or vice versa and see if that makes a difference. Just load your background image in an image editor and save it as a different image type, use that as your background and see if it makes a difference.
