Devices Backed Up vs. Not Backed Up

I have this same issue as with my other post about the baseline.

I show a 95% not backed up and 5% is. though looking at the graph data when you click on it, it shows all but maybe 5 devices not backed up. Maybe the datapoll is confused?

any help would be greatly apperciated.

I show a similar graph, but in my particular situation I believe the reason it shows the majority of nodes not backed up is due to selecting to only backup the configurations that have changed since last backed up. This leads to the graph being misleading as the reason it didnt backup the majority of the nodes was that the configurations didnt change.

This can be verified by also checking the configuration change graph. If this option is enabled the two graphs (config changes and configs backed up) will be inverse graphs of each other.

For my particular configuration it would be nice to to have the ability to graph configs not backed up that did have configuration changes, this would let me know if there are true communication issues during config transfers.

At the risk of repeating the above, I have the same issue. With a few thousand devices, it's typical for a large number not to have any configuration changes made for months. The nightly backup job does execute, but of course discards the unchanged config file.It unfortunately makes the pie graph meaningless for us (when we really need to know if a backup was completed successfully, regardless if the config was changed or not).

Can we request this as an enhancement for 5.1?

I don't really want to enable a weekly job to backup the configs regardless of config changes - we then start to lose past config change history when we purge config histories (i.e. last 10).

I am in the same situation as everyone else. I just checked my backed up vs not backed up and the pie chart show most are not but like Dave said we have it set so if the config doesn't change it will not back it up. I am hoping once SP1 becomes available most of these issues will be straightened out because the graph is definitely misleading.

You are right about the fact that this resource will show incorrect information if you have the option to only backup configs if they have changed. I have captured this as a bug (#2794). I am not certain we will be able to address this in Sp1 but is being considered for releases after that.

With those differences we have several devices of each family that are used for standby or for pre-deployment. Some are managed; some not. Having the option for defining what devices are considered for analyis and reporting would depict a more accurate picture of our network.

Has anything come of this yet? We're seeing the same thing running the latest SP and it's getting annoying having to explain to the guys upstairs that configs are actually still being backed up despite what the pie chart says

Hey again,

We're running ver 5.5 which lists this issue as resolved, but we're still seeing it Really don't want to have to keep nightly backups just to have this graph work Any ideas?
