Custom properties for APM

Is there any way to leverage the custom properties in APM? I know I could create templates and then manage alerts from the templates etc... The thing is most of my users have started to grasp the power of using custom properties. Now I get to tell them I know it looks like the same tool, but you don't get to use custom propeties for the application monitoring. I would love to find out I am just not seeing them and they have been there the whole time.

Custom properties can't be applied to templates. Can you provide more detail on what you're trying to do with the templates and the alerts? There may be alternate ways to achieve your goals.

I wanted to put in my two cents on this issue.

Custom properties on Applications (not necessarly the templates but the Applications) would be VERY important to me.

Currently I use a custom property on nodes called "application owner" that tells us who is responsible for the applications on the server. This works when there is a 1:1 relationship of application to server, but lately we are having more and more servers with multiple applications run by multiple teams.

A custom property of "owner" on each application would be most helpful in relating each application to the team responsible for it.
