I am using some MRV Optiswitch devices in my network and whenever I change the port description, Orion marks the port in an 'Unknown' status. The ifIndex is still the same, but the name is different. There is no option like in Cisco for 'snmp ifindex persistence'. Exactly how does Orion poll an interface - by ifIndex number or something else? If I List Resources of the node, I see that the port which is showing in 'Unknown' status is checked, but for some reason, Orion is still reporting it as unknown. I've opened a ticket with MRV, but figured I'd see if anyone has any ideas as a workaround. I really need to be able to monitor ports and can't track whenever a port's name changes.
