Alert on application down for node in group

I want to alert on a down application for a group member node. I found this post Alert when node goes down that is in a group but it's not quite what I need. When I choose Group Member for "I want to alert on" I don't seem to get Application in the trigger condition section, and when I choose Application for "I want to alert on" I don't seem to get Group Member in "The scope of the alert" section. Is it possible to do what I'm wanting?

I would start here. What are you trying to monitor? One application or many?

Using the Application Monitor will set you up with what you need. We use it for many different applications on multiple nodes.

No help here. You cannot alert from within Application Monitor from what I can tell. You have to go into alerting.

Are you having an issue cdt_mueller as the original post is from 2016?

I am just looking to alert on a failed application but having trouble finding it. shawndiaz sent questioner to Application Monitoring which does nothing for alerting. Alerting is a whole other application/process and still is circa 2019. It would be nice if one creates a monitor to be able to click on the monitor and choose "set up an alert on this" versus having to go into Alerting and trying to figure out how to find that monitor. Frustrating.
