Monitor a Service - What Am I Missing??

I am trying to establish monitoring of a Windows service. I have created an application template that is monitoring the service and I have associated that template to a node. The status of the service is reporting correctly on the node details screen. I am trying to configure an Alert Action that will send an email when the service goes down. My understanding is that I want to alert on a component, but when creating the rule, I cannot find the option to specify the service, or the context of the alert (in this case the Application Template for example).

I am sure I am missing something simple but I would really appreciate a pointer or two here if possible.

There are several out of the box alerts for components already created.  Go  to settings > manage alerts > search for component > make sure they are turned on and apply to your device.

If you have view filtering or anything that would limit device visibility you would want to check that as well.
