Node bouncing alert

id like to create an alert for some of my T1 nodes in the field. Currently I have a 5 minute delay from the node going down, to actually sending a Node Down alert.

Ive been seeing a number of my sites bouncing in that 5 minute window, so I never get an alert - but clearly there is a problem with the T1. Does anyone have any ideas for creating a "Node bouncing" alert?

Similar to: if the node bounces 4 times(all less than 5 minutes) in the last 30 minutes - send an alert "Node xxx has bounced 4 times in the past 30 minutes"

I would love to know if this can be done as well.

Right now I am triggering off a certain level of errors in an hour to isolate these issues whenever a circuit goes down there are corresponding errors.

We can't do an alarm for X condition y number of time within a time frame, but it is a tracked feature request. I would set up a trap and trap alert for those bounces.

Can you further explain the trap setup?

I want to avoid getting an email for every bounce thru the day (could be hundreds or thousands on a bad circuit.)

It is possible to set an alert action to send a trap to Solarwinds itself....the Trap Viewer allows you to set conditions not to act until X number of events occur.

This may be a possible workaround but this seems awfully complex to take an alert to send a trap to then in turn trigger another alert?

It is awfully frustrating that the trap viewer has different alerting actions than the alert configuration.

Does anyone have any ideas on this??
