Monitor Status Drift

Hi,

A number of my monitors mostly SNMP process monitors drift from available to unknown and back again, the error indicated is SNMP monitor execution error. Timeout, any ideas how I can prevent this I have played around with the probe method but this doesn't semm to have any impact?

Are the targets Windows or *nix?

Does an snmpwalk performed against one of the servers while the status is 'unknown' complete successfully?

Further to rharland2012‌ suggestion, if these are Windows nodes, try switching them to WMI polling, rather than SNMP (if your network security allows).

These are "Linux" nodes, next time I catch it I will do an snmpwalk to see if it is successfully and update...

Okay, good. Are you using net-snmp to poll these processes?

I have walked the MIB while the application is in an unknown state an it works consistantly although I may script this to run periodically to prove the point. I have tried BulkRow and this didn't improve things I'm assuming BulkColumn will produce similar results although I'm happy to try if it helps...

Could you try disabling bulk loading of process information? What OS is this monitored server running, and how many processes are running in total? Lastly, how frequently are there processes that are recycling (processes terminating and/or new processes spawning) on this host?
