I've found some previous posts about this field being blank but they were back in 2009.
Is there any update in having Advanced Alerts populating this field?

No not in advanced alerts, this is still only available in basic alerts.

Are there any plans on doing anything with this field for Advanced Alerts (which are pretty much the standard for alerting)?
It would be really nice to see this get used, and if that isn't possible just have it removed so it doesn't give a false sense of "something is missing".
