problem installing NCM 5.5

Having some problems on a fresh install of NCM v5.5 -- the software seems to install fine, but when the configuration wizard gets to the restarting services point it displays this error:

"An error occurred configuring a plugin: Object reference not set to an instance of an object..."

In the wizard log I have this:

I'm running Win2008, SQL 2008. Any ideas? I will say that if I just hit ok and click on finish, NCM seems to run ok. I havent' tried adding any nodes yet though.

Also, let us know if you see any issues (e.g. NCM website, integration module) as result of this error.

Just a quick FYI in case anyone didn't know or if it isn't published anywhere. You need to run the NCM 5.5 upgrade executable from C:. I tried running it from which is where the application is actually installed. When you run the upgrade executable it checks for files in use and if you run the update from it says that the upgrade executable is in use. Well you obviously can't continue the install when you shut down the update. Anyway, if you run into this issue, just copy the update file to C: and it will run fine. Not sure if this is intentional but it is a reality.

Hi, I have had the same problem, I submitted a ticket and spoke with support, it came down to that the SQL server had no instance name and that it was suggested that one was added.

However in doing that it would mean the SQL server would have to be re-installed, something that according to my DB counterparts is quite an extreme resolution as other apps (like NPM for example) have no problems with installing with the local SQL server that has no instance name.

So Brandon I am very interested to know if you have resolved this issue with support and if so how?

I currently have NCM 5.5 setup with no instance name (SQL Server defaults to MSSQLSERVER when no instance is set) and is it's working properly.

I'd like to be able to get your diagnostics through our support team to investigate the issue.
