Moving SAM Server

Hello,

  We're going through some network changes, changes that are going to require us to relocate our SAM server from one network segment to another.  This change will require us to change the IP address and name of the SAM server.  What I'm wondering is other than visiting each node that we monitor and changing the SNMP settings is there anything else we need to do?  Is this type of move possible?  Does SAM move easily?

Changing the servers IP address is simple and requires no changes to the product. Changing the name of the server itself however is a different story altogether. This is because Licensing is tied to the server name, as well as all objects being monitored are also tied to the server name for polling. If you rename the server all polling will cease until licensing is fixed and node objects are associated to the correct name of the server. This is all outlined in the following document.
