What priviledge level is required by APM for a SQL server monitor?

I am trying to add a first SQL server as a monitor in APM and my DB admin did not want to give me admin credentials for this server b/c of security concerns. She asked what priviledge level is required to monitor all the SQL services: read-only, read/write etc. I was not able to find the answer any where in Help or forums.

Opened a ticket Case # 239168 this morning but never heard back from Solarwinds.

If you want to use SQL Server User Experience monitor to get some performance metrics using SQL queries, then SQL user should have at least following privileges:

Server role: User should be at least in ‘processadmin’ role. Otherwise these two higher roles also have required access: serveradmin, sysadmin

Database role: it’s not even required to be member of ‘public’.

to query the database you will need read access to the databases you want to query.

to monitor the services you need to have an administrator account for the computer (not SQL). (thats what solarwinds has told me before, I am not sure if lower credentials will work but you need enough rights to query running services via WMI or RPC) with that account.

I do not want to use SQL Server User Experience.

I just need to add a couple of SQL servers to monitor in APM to get the same data as configured in the Solarwinds APM online demo.
