Process for changing VM CPU & Memory

Hi everyone,

Hope someone can direct me to the proper process for this situation as I'm not finding much.

We monitor a 95% VM populated environment. We routinely change the number of cpu cores and RAM attached to those VMs as application needs dictate for the month.

I just realized after being informed cpu was added to a VM that SAM wasn't detecting the right number of cores(increased from 2 to 6). I've tried triggering a rediscovery, unmanage/remanage node, and deselecting cpu/memory monitor and then reselecting. None of these things get the CPU to report the correct number.

How is this supposed to work ideally? What is the correct process? Is SAM supposed to automatically detect the change and update after X polling intervals? Or is there some other process I'm supposed to do manually?

To expand a bit more on rflanagan32871's post do you have network discovery configured to automatically add nodes to Solarwinds?  The regular polling does not pick up changes but if you have a network discovery running on a regular basis it will pick up the changes.

Within my SAM environment it should detect that the number of CPU's have changed. I did it this week within my environment and upgraded a VM from 4 cores to 6 and following a normal rediscovery it had the correct number.

Have you tried listing the resource on the device and forcing it to not use the cached version?
