It sure would be nice to be able to set up alerts through the NPM web Console.
We are starting that in the next version, however, to be up front we will not be all the way there yet.
What you will be able to do is to enable/disable/delete Advanced Alerts, edit some very basic parameters and view the trigger and action details in the web. You will still have to RDP to Orion to create new or edit existing triggers, actions etc.
However, hopefully you will be able to see we are making forward progress.
I agree!!!!
I think I've read that the next update will allow for that, but I really don't know those details.
I also agree. I am pretty much in support of it all becoming web console managed so long as permissions are designed in such a way that I can properly control who has access to what.
Add me to the list of supporters for this feature. It seems like one could have a user account setting for "Allow user to customize alerts", just like there is already one for customizing views.
I like the ease of having management functionallity on the web BUT before SW goes whole hog, I want to see more granularity on the permissioning.
For instance: NPM "Allow Node Management" lets a user manage nodes and only node management (duh) but the only way to manage Application Monitors is to be a Full Admin.
Now there may be a situtation where I need a "Alert Manager" but dont want to give Full Admin Rights because I don't want an "Alert Manager" to mess with the website design/layout like an "APM Manager" can now. (I hope this wont be the case)
That is what is really nice about the server based applications. (Advanced Alert Manager, the gone but not forgotten System Manager, the may be gone soon Custom Property Manager, etc) I can protect access to these management applications with Windows permissions.
Just be careful what you wish for, and SW, you should do your homework before you give to to us.
