I tried this morning to install v3.6 on all my boxes and when I got to my hot-standby it stated this wasn't allowed. I was hoping to get it on there so the website on that box would have those resources loaded.
Should this have worked?
My understanding is that the hot-standby is only for regular polling, basic alerts and there is the website that is installed as well. NTA and other modules shouldn't install to the Hot-Standby.
I agree it shouldn't be a collector but I feel it should be treated like an additional web engine and allow the install to update just the webpage resources in case of failover so I don't lose access to Netflow data.
I could see why you would want to have NetFlow on your Hot Standby, but you would have to configure your Devices send NetFlow information to your Hot Standby regardless of whether or not your Orion Poller was down. This would create an additional load on your Network that would be discarded until the Hot Standby came up.
Again...I completely agree...what I am saying is that I know that the Netflow engine can go on an additional web engine license...why can't that same idea be applied to Hot-Standby since it is my backup web engine. I do not want to send netflow data to the box...I just need it to be on the webpage so my other additional pollers that are still running and collecting netflow could be viewed on the webpage of the hot-standby.
