Advanced Alert for Capacity Planning

Hi, I am new to Orion NPM and have been asked to evaluate the effort to implement some advanced alerts based on the interface utiliziation  for a group of routers and swithces.  I would like to know,  if it is doable and how easy would be to implement that using Orion NPM 9.2. The rules would be something as follows :

Alert when :

over 70% occupancy for a 2 hour consecutive period for more than 2 days in a row -> generate a minor alert

over 75% occupancy for a 2 hour consecutive period for more than 2 days in a row -> generate a medium alert

over 80% occupancy for a 2 hour consecutive period for more than 2 days in a row -> generate a critical alert

Hi Fernando,

your question is really interesting. Unfortunately your rules are not so trivial as it seems and specifying such alert may be a challenge.

Current percent utilization of each interface is stored in database in 'Interfaces' table, however historical traffic values of utilization are summarized daily and hourly in different tables.

You are easily able to create an alert when current utilization of an interface is higher than e.g. 75 percent for 2 hours consecutively:
