APM - monitor going to unknown status.

Hello,

I have been running the new APM for about a week now, I have SP3 installed and for the most part it is working great. I have 9 servers being monitored with WMI, using 4 default templates (IIS, SQL, Exchange, and Orion) and one custom template for blackberry. The past two days I have been checking APM every few hours and I have noticed that it will set the monitor status of a poller to unknown every once in a while. Only one at a time and it has effected every template.

I was letting it sit there to see if it would clear itself on the next polling interval but with no luck. I watched one for 5 hours sit there and not come out of unknown. To get it to go back to up status I have clicked Edit Application then hit submit, on the next poll after that it will come back as up(green).

I did not know if anyone else is having this problem, but I wanted to make you aware of this. If you have any suggestions or question I would appreciate and/or answer them.

Did your device's IP address change, by any chance? The fact that it fixed when you touched it suggests that the info in the APM tables might have gotten out of sync with the Orion info. It gets fixed if you touch the application because its updated when you touch it. That's a known issue that we'll repair in a SP.

Would you mind exporting your blackberry template and posting to content sharing zone? I'd be very interested to see it.

All the IPs are static. It is just one service or process that goes unknown at a time. When I clear it it will jump to another with in 10 min. Right now I am just letting a SMTP Monitor sit in unknown so it does not jump to another node.

I uploaded the Blackberry template I use right now. It is just every service and the 2 major processes in my eyes, file conversion and the mailbox agent.

I can confirm that I'm seeing this as well. My use of APM is a little heavier than ggrapple's as I have 30 application profiles spread across 60 nodes.

Can you please open a Support ticket? Alterego has one already. We'll want to get diagnostics from you. It would be more efficient that working it through the forum.

I had the same experience with "release candidate".Some web sites would turn "unknown" while others did not.I also experienced this same issue with the Exchange templates. BTW: I have a case opened already.

I am having the same issue...several of my SNMP monitors will go to an unknown state, and if I try to TS into my server, I am unable to. Reboot seems to clear it up for awhile.

If you are having this problem, please open a Support ticket. We had one person with this problem on a URL monitor, and we found that the search string mis-matched the HTML source code, which was the source of the problem.

GW for not being able to TS in to your box check your event viewer under system and see if you have a LsaSrv error # 40960 it will be a warning message.

If you have that you might want to make sure you have all your hot fixes installed. I had the same problem about a week ago, my server was not authenticating to the DC on random intervals. Our server group had patched all the servers a few days before and missed the Orion one.

Well based on the release notes for ver. 1.0, I am not ready to install this product.I can't see how this could be "production" ready when it has a memory leak.I am going to wait till SPx or a new version before I install this on my production SLX server. If SolarWinds made this available to work on a separate server that would not require a NPM lic. then I would feel more comfortable with using this version.

Check out this post, I had similar issues and it tells how to fix the not TS'ing into the server anymore.

Is their any update on this subject?
I am having the same problem "monitors will go to an unknown state" I am also using RDP to work on the server.As i assume a few of you opened a support ticket and i would like to know what the remedy was.

I installed the APM on Friday, today i started to monitor on SQL, Orion And IIS.
I am a using "SolarWinds-Orion-APM-v1-ALX" on a NPM 8.5.1 SP 3 installation.
