Additional Web Server Installation

Hi SolarWinds Folks,

I am deploying additional web server but I am now confused if all installers (ex. SAM, WPM, VIM, and SRM) that I am seeing from the additional web server must need to be installed or is the NPM web server would be suffice? Because previously, when most of SolarWinds products were dependent from the main poller, I usually install NPM web server despite that I have SAM before which was standalone already.

You would want to deploy an additional web server package for each Orion component you have installed on your primary poller. The only exception would be for NTA, where it only runs on the primary.

So if you just have NPM and SAM installed, deploy those additional web server components. The reason being, the additional web server will only show you the tabs for the additional components installed, i.e. if you only install the NPM additional web server piece, you won't see the Applications tab on the additional web server.

We had to run the NTA installer on our Additional Web Server to get NTA data to be displayed. We actually had a weird sequence of events when updating to NPM 12.1, and latest versions of NCM and NTA where we ran the NPM installer, then it would hit a point in the config wizard where it would fail saying the NTA server wasn't updated (it was), we would then run the NTA installer, and come back to the NPM wizard and finish running it.

We have Additional Web Server running on two load-balanced web servers, so we had to do this sequence twice.

It looks like you need to install the AWS on one of the additional pollers, if you want it like the main poller's web server, correct?
