Window layout for NCM management

I've been using the NCM admin management tool on the NCM server, and recently the window layout has changed on me (not sure why), and I can't seem to change it back. When i first login to the management console on the NCM server, I used to see two windows in a "vertical" style layout; the "Node List" and "Quick Start" windows. Now they are arranged in a "horizontal" view (Quick start is horizontally positioned under the Node List). I prefer the previous way; how can this be changed back? By the way, this is the same for all users of the server.

I've tried clicking on the "Windows" drop down menu but "New Horizontal Tab Group" is greyed out. Same with New Vertical Tab Group. Any suggestions?

It sounds like you or one of your co-managers may have unintentionally made a change to your View. You can create new Views or edit existing ones by going to Admin / Views / Manage Views and then selecting the View you want to edit.

You should see the ability to edit column widths, and the resources in each column. Once you make a change, click the Preview button to see if it looks the way you wish.

You can also change the way your setup looks by going to Admin / Customize Menu Bars. Select the Menu bar you want by clicking the Edit button under any Menu Bar. From the window that opens then, you can drag & drop Available Items to the Selected Items column, and edit items within each column.

The layouts you are referring to are in the WWW interface; I'm talking about the actual management console that you use for full administration of the NCM application, which runs on the NCM server.

Did you ever get a resolution to this problem?

I had the same problem. If you left click on the top bar of the node list window and drag it next to teh Quick Start tab. For me that put the node list back where I was used to having it.

I had the same issue where the panes had been reorganised by accident. The suggestion by ronald.huizar worked, but it takes a little fiddling around as the Node List seems to prefer float rather than being in a pane.

It's a shame the NCM Administrator Guide does not appear to describe the behaviour of the panes in the NCM sever GUI at all.

Hi Simon,

You're right, the node list tends to float when it's let loose. To vertically re-dock, as r.h suggests, you left-click/drag the top of the node list into the area just left of the application window; you should see the snap-to lines indicating where the node list will doc when you release it.

It's true that the Win32 application does not have a navigation overview as does the Web Console. Essentially, though, the application behaves or should behave like any application using the Windows API. SolarWinds is migrating features of the the Win32 application to the Web Console with each release; and eventually all features will be web-based.
