Our organization has been running NPM, APM, and NCM on the same server; with SQL 2005 on another server.
I am not liking the NCM 7.0. Is it possible to go back to the previous environment?
Hi rcahill--
Here is a discussion on rolling back to previous versions. I would assume NCM would be a similar case. I'll go ahead and mark for the PM to comment on to verify.
Thanks,DH
Us too 7 is appalling. Lost way too much functionality.
Got this from support:
The process no matter is going ot be tedious. It will definitley require uninstalling the NCM 7.0 Everyting.Uninstalling the NPM web console at leastThen one would need to restore from a back up an NPM database from prior to NCM 7 being installed and integrated. The NCM 6.x would need to be restored, then NCM 6.x reinstalled. These are minimum.
Thanks for the feedback.
I believe SW failed in an IT axiom, "how can we fail back" on this installation and upgrade.
After 3 weeks with the integrated products we still are scratching our heads. A three hour internal discussion with admins and operations resulted in several unhappy departmental groups.
good luck with your efforts.
We have successfully rolled back ... and are much happier. Steps as follows:
Follow these steps:NCM 7.0 integrated with NPM on single machine scenarioNCM 7.0 integrated with NPM on single machine scenarioIn order to roll back to 6.1 the following steps needs to be performed:Open Add or Remove Programs --Uninstall SolarWinds Orion NCM-NPM Integration v7.0-- Run Orion Configuration Wizard-- Uninstall SolarWinds Orion Network Configuration Manager v7.0-- Uninstall SolarWinds SCP ServerRestore NCM v6.1 database from backupInstall NCM v6.1Run NCM Configuration Wizard and create new or open existing NCM v6.1 database
If, during the install, the license is not recognized, call 866-530-8040 opt 1.Explain to them you need a license for NCM 6.1 and understand the roll back steps.
