Monitoring Novell Processes

I'm attempting to monitor applications on my novell servers via SNMP. What i'm looking to monitor is dhcp (dhcpsrvr.nlm) and the commvault software (cvd.nlm and evmgrc.nlm). Since SNMP wants process information, how can I find out if i'm giving APM the correct information? I've tried looking for the processes evmgrc.nlm and the message I get back from the test is:

Testing on node LEGRVCO: failed with 'NotAvailable' status The process was not found.

Anyone have any suggestions?

More Information. I've walked the SNMP Database and think i've found the OID i'm looking for. The process I want to monitor seems to correspond to .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.4.2.1.7.1495573616

I add this to an snmp monitor and test but I get the following results:

Testing on node LEGRVCO: failed with 'NotAvailable' status Can't convert C V D. N L M v7.00 (20081007) to numeric type.

Any thoughts? (CVD.NLM is the module that's loading)

The closest thing I've tried with this was to create a UnDP poller that polled for a list of running processes by name. Then I created an alert that would trigger if the process I was monitoring did not appear in the list. I used OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.23.2.28.9.1.1.2 for this purpose but I noticed OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.4.2.1.2 (which is very close to what you listed) seems to produce the same list.

The problem with my method is that the return value was an SNMP table and I was applying it to over 60 servers. Thus, if this UnDP poller was active, my box would take a huge performance hit. It simply wasn't worth it just to monitor a single process on each of these servers.

Keep in mind that my method does not make use of APM at all. Therefore, I'd be interested in whatever solution you find.

Yeah, my issue is that i've purchased APM for this exact purpose (to monitor processes and services on a server). For everything except novell, it works just fine. Man, I hate Novell. The sucky part is that the really critical services I want to monitor (NDS, DHCP, Print Services) are novell services for us right now. I'm going to keep working on it and will post any new information I find.

So this OID, .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.4.2 is a table with all running processes, process IDs, status info, parameters etc.

This OID, .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.4.2.1.7 is an integer value that says "running". This is the status info that I want to put into APM for monitoring a particular service. Is there any problems with monitoring this value as an integer with the value running?
