Alerting When Application is down on TWO nodes

Hello,

I'm trying to set up an alert that will alert on a SAM check that I have created that is assigned on two nodes. If the application is down on both nodes, I want it to alert. I want it to reset/recover when the application is up on at least one of the nodes. I think I have it set up correctly, but it is showing that 0 nodes will be affected on the summary page. Both application checks are showing down now (typo'd the service names for this to occur). Does anyone see anything that would cause this to not work like I'm expecting?

Do you still have the 'or' for the server names ?

If so you may need it to be 'and'

Is correct as it is.

What solarwinds is trying to tell you, is that the trigger conditions you declared (app down in both nodes) are not active right now.

I think the problem is that you typo'd the service name to try and trigger the issue when it looks on that server it will not find the service so the service will not be Down it will be in Unknown.

If you need a test case create an application monitor for the spooler service then turn them off on both machines and test it that way. Its a live service and you can just toggle it on and off.

I'm actually using the process monitor component, not service, so when I typo'd the service name it says "Can't be found" just like when it isn't running on the 2nd node.

then you will have to change the alert trigger from "down" to not found.

set the reset condition to recommended and try the alert on only one of the servers and see if that works.

Switch in the trigger application To component, and search the service you are monitoring.

Don't think the trigger conditions work as a node's name can't be server 1 and server 2 at the same time.

The advanced option will allow you to check two or more servers' status.

That worked and I'm now getting alerts. The one problem I'm still having is getting the reset condition to get triggered. The App on Server 1 is now up, but I'm still getting down emails as if both are still down.

EDIT: I deleted the SAM checks on both Server 1 and 2 and between me adding them back I noticed the email DOWN alert is still firing. How is this even possible?
