Variables with Snppets from Web vs. from NCM Thick Client

Why is it that when I put something like this:

banner motd #
==================================
        CompanyName
==================================
Hostname:      ${Caption}
Model:         ${MachineType}
Site Code:     ${NodeGroup}
==================================
      Authorized Access Only
==================================
#

in the web interface and tell it to execute it replaced the variables with the appropriate values?

Then I go to the Configuration Snippets Portion of the program and try it again with the same thing (copy/paste) and I get the "literal" typing for the Variables?

This is because config snippets are intended to be literally parts of configs (e.g. access control lists).  It's the same operation as doing a config upload, but with just a portion of the config.

To achieve the same effect as you saw in the website with variable substitution, you'd need to select node(s) and right-click to select "Execute Scripts" or you can create an "Execute Script" job.
