Advance alert won't trigger e-mail notification

Hello,

Im new at this so please be patient. We do have Orion Application Monitor 8.0 and while setting advance alert on applications i get the following error:

"Falied - Exception caught while setting up mail message to send. Detail-Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.

Parameter name: index Email message sent via SMTP Server x.x.x.x To:dl17@ourcompany.org CC:"

This error comes straigh out of db.AlertLog table where i can see the alert triggered

The thing is that NPM logs the event when any application goes down, but there is no e-mail sent. It used to work before but we dont know what happends. basic alerts works and sends out e-mails.

Can someone please help me

Check the email options in all your alerts (trigger & reset areas) for any unexpected spaces or commas etc. Check the To:, CC: and BCC: fields. I have seen your error appear in the logs when there is a space or other unexpected character in one of the recipient fields, and it may also happen with other fields also.

Do your other e-mail alerts work? Can you perform a manual trigger/test to confirm? Applied any service packs (either Orion or MS) lately? Things generally don't spontanously break...

If all your alerts are broken your best bet might be to log a ticket w/ support. If it's just one, then delete the alert and recreate it to ensure it's not something like a line break in that specific alert.

smargh, euphorik, Thank you for your suggestions. It was actually the separator on the e-mail addresses for the To and cc. very weird because solarwinds state that you can use them both. Besides, looking at the error message itself we can see nothing after CC. Thank you all
