Service tag in email alerts

I want the service tag of the node/server that is being alerted on included in the alert email being sent.

Currently I have some hardware component alerts setup and they seem to be working great except I'm not getting the service tag. I'm using the ${APM_HardwareAlertData.ServiceTag} variable in the email, but no matter the server this value is always CNS2191. Manufacturer (${APM_HardwareAlertData.Manufacturer}) and Model (${APM_HardwareAlertData.Model}) variables are working fine.

What version of SAM do you have installed?

Please try build this macro using Alert Engine. This image shows how to do that.

This workaround was tested and its working.

Hi jleecong

this is actually known issue. Data from APM_HardwareAlertData are selected by Node Id. How ever sometimes the Alert engine is unable to connect the Node Id with the table and for this reason it will pick up the first in the table which is probably in your case CNS2191.

You can try substitute $(APM_HardwareAlertData.ServiceTag} with ${SQL:Select ServiceTag from APM_HardwareAlertData where NodeId = ${NodeId}}. This SQL query works fine.

The above results in the output email containing...

${SQL:Select ServiceTag from APM_HardwareAlertData where NodeId = $@NodeId@}

If this is a known issue/bug is there an official workaround or eta for when the bug will be fixed?
