ESX Hardware Alerts

It appears that the only way to get hardware alerts for ESXi 4.1 systems is to get the status through the vCenter ESX Host Details page.  I am doing a test where I unplug one of the power supplies and wait for it to show up in the ESX Details page.  The ESX Status item goes to Down and is shaded red.  How can I alert on that field?

vCenter comes built with canned Alerts.  Using the "Host storage status" canned alert you can setup notifications from within the actions tab.

You can generate an SNMP Trap and alert on the trap.

You can generate an email directly from vCenter.

If you deleted the canned Alerts, you can create a new one from scratch.
