SSL Certificate Expiration Date template alert

Hi,

I'm feeling a bit slow at the moment so be gentile.

I have taken the SSL Certificate Expiration Date template in SAM and assigned it to 4 nodes (2 servers and 2 externals by url).

I'm now trying to create an alert to trigger when the days to expiration is less than X.

I'm really struggling to work out what field/variable and/or how to test in the trigger.

I have been searching thwack and google without much luck.

Can someone please point me in the correct direction?

Hi imcguinness, so if you want to set the X Days threshold on a per-node level you would edit the Application Monitor, however, if you want them all to be the same then you would edit the Application Template.

Once you're inside the Application Monitor (Or Template) you open up the SSL Certificate Expiration Component and if you scroll down to the section marked "Statistic Threshold" then you will see a Warning & Critical level. This is where you set the number of days that you want to be made aware of.

I think the default is Warning when less than 90 Days and Critical when less than 30 days.

Once that setting is updated and applied to your Application Monitor (Or Template) then you would set up an Alert to tell you when a Component or Application has gone into Warning or Critical state. I think there are some out-of-the-box alerts for this which you can use as a guideline.

This is a generic alert that will tell you about ANY Application or Component that goes into a Warning or Critical state, that way you don't have to set up alerts for each application.
