Rebooting my poller without all the alerts again

Can someone please help me understand a few things. Whats happening is..... i have serveral alerts that have not been acknowledged and i need to reboot my primary poller.

Every time i reboot i get all the alerts giving me emails over over again. What do i have to do

to stop the email alerts all over again. I am thinking i have to acknowledge them first then

disable alerts and them reboot my poller? What am i missing here? And what is happeining

when someone acknowledges an alert? Help.....

I assume by rebooting your poller you mean the main NPM install? That's odd that you would get the emails all over again because the active alerts should persist through a reboot - they're in the database after all.

Your email alerts aren't set up to send multiple emails are they? I.e., every X minutes.

yes you are correct....i am talking about the main NPM install....and no i do not have any email

that will execute multi.....so what you are saying is i should be able to reboot the main poller

the alerts should not come again since they have already and are still active....

I have the same problem. Whenever i restart all Orion services or reboot the server, any active Advance Alerts i have go out all over again.. we have lived with it and the users have stopped complaining..

ok,

let me tell you my embarrassemnt/configuration.....just discovered.......well basically all i was

monitoring was alerts on disk space and reboots....i had it set to alert on greater then 60 percent.....so every time i rebooted orion gave me some of the alerts again! Well what i tried was........

using the "do not trigger this action until conditon exists for more than" XX i had it set to 0 and what i think was everytime it baselined there was new data and it alerted me. I set it to 15mins and rebooted and it worked just fine!! My guess is by using this new configuration

i told orion to "wait" and check and if already set then it will not alert again until a certain time has passed. Is this what it sounds like??
