Pings, traceroutes or other output into email alert

Trying to figure out how to do a couple of things.

1. Add a ping and/or traceroute from the polling engine into an emailed alert. I can write the output of the desired commands to a file, and get the file contents into the clipboard if necessary. I just can't find a way to include them in the email alert.
2. Add a ping and/or traceroute from a router/switch into an emailed alert.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to do this?

You could steal a play from the solarwinds built in alerts for Top CPU and Memory processes.

Step 1, trigger alert and the action is to launch your script to tracert (l33t Tracer-T video​ )

add an escalation, wait maybe a minute or two for the script to run, now the trick is that one of the final actions of your script is it needs to add a note to the solarwinds alert containing the stats you want to see, Alerts · solarwinds/OrionSDK Wiki · GitHub

Step 2 send out an email on the alert, and in the body of the message include the variable for alert notes
