Plans to enhance Advanced Alert Manager Custom SQL Alert?

I want/need to develop an alert based upon a SQL query. I can (did) create a report using custom SQL why can't I also do the same with the Alert Manager?

I need to be able to do an event based upon what shows in the report for further analysis...

I am hamstrung by the limitations of the current SQL triggers and have yet to find a way around it.

Has anyone figured out a way to 'go beyond' the limiations of the Alert custom SQL triggers?
