Alerting based on interface description

Hello,

 

I would like to create an advanced alert that sends an email only when an interface goes down that has a description that contains the word "uplink".  Is there a trigger condition that I can set which will look at the interface description on the switch and only send the email if the word "uplink" is in the description?

Go into Advanced Alert Manager and create a new Interface alert.  Then set a simple condition where Interface Caption contains Uplink.

I think that will get you what you are looking for.

P.S.  You can always take a look at the database to find out where different values are stored which really helps when designing different alerts.
