Running on Windoze 2003 via RDP session
License version unlimited
As newby on Solaris NCM , I amazed how many steps are required to execute something simple querries
let alone how much I do have to spend on such basic querrries ( web gui is slow as hell and I'm on local host....)and reslut 0
hence the reason I'm asking for some advice how to get it fixed
So I was Just wondering what is the best time effective solution to get below mentioned questions answered.in NCM version 7.0.2
1) how to find if a certain username is been added into the configuration
2) how to find the configuration where the username is not been seen
3) based on above results ( which I am not capable of doing at this hence the reason why I'm typing this)
4) how do I make a script to add the missing username into the correct configuration
Steps I took on the Web Based Network Configuration Manager
Configuration Management View By
I Select execute script
- add the relevant configuration string
click next
Select Nodes ( here starts the fun,......)
need to select Vendor
then to select specific configuration (ZZZZZzzzzzzzz=takes ages to select them and crashed now an then..... so you start all over again)
the you need to select invididually (we got more then 1000+ devices.... and I need only a couple of them
Question why do I have to select them individually, where is the benefit of using a script??
it takes ages to select the configuration invidually, the time spent so far on this application
defeats the benefit of scripting as manually your faster by logging one by one.
So in my humble opinion waste of money invested by company,
( no I was not in the decision phase of buying application would never
choose for solarwinds, they are more then 5 months busy getting the application up and running still doesn't )
Ok it took to much time option 1 Let's try Option 2 Making a Rule and the A report
Thought i try to make
1) a rule
2) make a report on that rule
3) execute that report and get this result
my google foo say I'm not only onewhit this challenge
Ok this took me 10 minutes and this as result...
"Please update compliance cache before running report"
Same result NOTHING, and sorrow ellbow cause of clicking on each link
waiting for answer from webgui.... absolutelty not build to work on real time networks which do not have to have walk around Orion application.
Personally never seen networking monitoring tool that crashes so many times, and you've pay also for it....
and it's an rsi enhancing application.
Note:
the tutorial links added into web console is doesnot work !, solarwinds
most of vid I've seen are marketing crap, no real technical indepth vids, always in "laboratoy environment" where it always works....
