Database backups with Orion

I want to setup automatic db backups with Orion and have the backups sent to another machine. Can I do this and will it interfere with Orion's monitoring?

This is very easy and it does not interfere with collection.Make sure you SQL Server Agent is operating otherwise the process cannot be automated.

Go into the Solarwinds Database manager and right click on your database. For this example we will call the database "netperfmon". Right click on netperfmon and select "Database Backup Schedule" walk throught the wizard and then when you select your backup location you can use name pipes to redirect the file to a remote location. just make sure that the machine running orion has knowledge of that computer location and appropriate rights to write a file there. After that you should be all set and the job will automatically run as frequently as you specify.
