I suspect my shop is similar to other organizations as well as my strategy of adding network devices.
We take new devices add configurations and tweak them prior to production and monitoring. Sometimes deployment and production could be days or weeks away.
This appears to not be the same with the solarwinds understanding with the integration of NPM and NCM.
Adding in a new deivce immediately adds the device into production monitoring with the possibility of adding the device into NCM (this is understandable for devices not requiring config managemnt).
As far as I can tell there is no simple mechanism to seperate a pre-production and production environments.
If there is a concensus in the seperation of pre-prod and prod then we need a solution to add systems for configuration and inventory management prior to production monitoring.
Update:
I used to like being able to add the device to Cirrus and immediately follow this up with a config download and inventory to make absolutely certain the snmp, device template, and user logins were all working. This no longer is the case.
