Alert Help

Ok I downloaded the custom pollers and installed them from Emerson Network Power Liebert UPS Device Poller and I can't seem to get the upsEstimatedChargeRemaining to work in an alert.

I want to set the alert so it will alert me if the charge gets below 50 percent and then tell me what percent it is currently at. So when I set my alert up I am putting

${NodeName} has ${CustomPollerStatus.Total} minutes left

But even though it has 52 percent left it displays

CentennialWest_CR_TestUPS has 120 minutes left

I can't figure this out for the life of me.

I have my trigger condition set up like this

Poller name is equal to upsEstimatedChargeRemaining

Status is less than or equal to 10

If you need any more information let me know. I am trying to use this in Orion with a Liebert gxt 2 UPS.

Did you make a UnDP chart or just the poller? If you have a chart, what values are on it?

Where did you get ${CustomPollerStatus.Total}? Try ${CustomPollerStatus.Status} or ${CustomPollerStatus.RawStatus}. I'm doing this from memory, but 'total' seems suspicious.

I don't know what a UnDP chart is, so I am guessing I just made the poller. Can I make a chart?

So that is what I have. The first subject/message is my alert and the second subject/message is the response I got. The issue is that I want it to be a percentage of the battery. The gauge on my node information page works fine it says 100% and goes down as the battery drains. I am wondering if I am using the wrong variable because all I can get is 120 out of ${CustomPollerStatus.Status}

When you create the UnDP you have the option to "Keep 'Historical data" This will allow you to make a graph or gauge to track the OID value and see if it makes sense. 120 is a very suspecious number for an UPS to indicate as this is typical of line voltage. I would do a MIB walk on that device and see if the MIB used to create the Polller is the right one for that device. The Emmerson MIBs are model specific. What is the exact model of the device you have?

Okay so status and rawstatus are returning the same value which makes sense. I'm with Andy on this one - are you sure that OID is giving you what you think you're supposed to be getting? That MIB Walk is going to shed a lot of light on this. Grab SolarWinds Engineer's Toolset and give it a spin.

I am pretty new to all of this. I don't exactly know what a MIB is or the UnDP that I created?

Ok so I created a new poller and it does the same exact thing as the original one. Its weird because when I test the poller I get the correct number of percentage. I will attach a screen shot of it. I found out that the number I am getting is the output of the UPS. I unplugged everything from it and the ${CustomPollerStatus.RawStatus} and ${CustomPollerStatus.Status} both come back as zero. Is there some way that its a calculation to figure out the % remaining and not just a single number? If someone can direct me as to what a MIB walk is it might help. I am not sure if your talking about just walking through the MIB tree or what.

If it's returning 74 it should be returning 74 in the alert. Can you post a screenshot of the poller details page once you've clicked 'select' there?

So after some help from Steven Klassen we found the issue(s). It ended up being the poller that I downloaded was set to "get next" instead of "get". This meant that I was actually polling the next OID in the tree.

We fixed that issue and then we ended up deleting the alert for it and creating a new one with a unique name that fixed the issue.
