Alert message variable returning incorrect value

Hey all

I'm trying to setup alerts for a universal device poller for APC SmartUPS. I am currently monitoring a few different metrics such as remaining battery capacity, current load etc.

Now, I've created an alert which triggers when battery capacity drops below 90%. See screenshot:

 

Now, I've setup an email alert when this triggers that simply says:

Node: xxx battery capacity is currently yyy

Where xxx is obviously the nodename and yyy is the value returned by upsAdvBatteryCapacity. The problem is, when I test it, the message I actually get is:

Node: UPS1 battery capacity is currently Battery Normal

or

Node: UPS1 battery capacity is currently 2

Depending on whether I use ${CustomPollerStatus.Status}, ${CustomPollerStatus.RawStatus} or ${CustomPollerStatus.rate}

This is the value that is being returned by one of the other UDPs assigned to that node: upsBasicBatteryStatus. I don't understand why it is doing this or how to change it. Please help!

 

On a side note, is it just me or does it seem to take a very long time between clicking 'Test Alert Trigger' and anything actually happening?

In case anyone is interested I managed to sort it. Unfortunately it did mean having to build a SQL query. Not a massively complicated one but still, you would think this would be something you could achieve without having to start writing database queries.
