SQL Disk reports

Can someone help with this trigger for alerting? Trying to get a email sent to the SQL team when one of the SQL boxes is low on disk space. SQL is a Custom Property specified by Application and Application_Secondary. Also advise cause this alert is triggering Physical Memory too. Need that removed also. I've tried to re-order things in this list. But it still wont seem to filter to just SQL servers.

I don't see any trigger for the actual volume utilisation!

Try adding 'used space', 'free space' or the percentage of utilsation as the trigger and set it against wither the system threshold or a static one.

So, the obvious question, are any volumes that fit that filter, actually below 15% avaialbe space?

Now without seeing your database, it's pretty hard to see if any nodes pass that filter, let alone are below 15%.

Are you comfartable with SQL or SWQL? You can see how the logic works if you hit this little button.

Hit the Show SWQL and a little pop window will show the SWQL code behind the GUI.

It is very SQL like in its syntax and if you have the SWQL Studio installed you can quickly see if it works or not.

I have had a crack at turning your filter into SQL, just in case you don't have SWQLStudio installed (and you should, its part of the Orion SDK from GitHub ).

You can run this using SQL Studio against the SolarWinds db instance (not 'master') or the SolarWinds DB Manager (which is probably c:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\DatabaseManager.exe), connect to the default DB and have a go a running the query below.

SELECT n.Caption, v.Caption, v.VolumeSpaceAvailable

FROM Nodes n

INNER JOIN Volumes v ON v.NodeID = n.NodeID

WHERE ( n.Applications LIKE 'SQL' OR n.Applications_Secondary LIKE 'SQL')

AND v.VolumeSize > 512000000

AND ( v.VolumeType LIKE 'Fixed Disk' OR v.VolumeType LIKE 'NetworkDisk' )

If there are nothing returned from that, then your filter is too tight.
