Monitor Port 0

Hello,

I have been getting pounded on my edges by what I suspect is some type of dDOS attack. I took a bit to drill down and find the culprit source and target, but the protocol was ..

Unmonitored UDP Port 0

I tried to add that to my monitored list with a name of "Suspect dDOS" - but Solarwinds would not allow me to use Port 0. Is there a way to accomplish this? It is obviously being seen, and logged.

Unfortunately there is no way to add UDP port 0 as a monitored port in Solarwinds. This is due to port 0 being a reserved port. You can read more about this here:

Thanks. You are correct, and I realize it is a "reserved" port.

But, as it is being seen and reported, I was hoping to put a name on it.

Just as an FYI - as many times as I've seen a dDOS attack on UDP 0 it was almost always to disguise a port 53 exploit.
