New to Solarwinds

Hi All,

I am new to SolarWinds. I need the help of the Community to scale up on SolarWinds. I have few question which I need to clarify.

What is the difference between the Alert section and Event section in SolarWinds?
One we Acknowledge the Alert can we view the acknowledged alerts from the past?

What documentation should I read to do a proper Administration of SolarWinds Environment?

In my environment I have the below licenses.

cloud monitoring , npm , dpaim , QoE , NTA , VIM , SAM , NetPath.

I am very new to solar winds. so please point me to the basics and then slowly I want to build up from basics to the expert level.

Do you have any documentation on Solar winds Administration.

I would start with reading the NPM Administrator guide. And if you have other Orion modules installed, then read those admin guides as well.

Alerts are logged when an alert is activated. You can see all the alerts you have active in Alert Manager.

Events are 'events' that occur such as reboots, additions, changes, thresholds hit etc.

I'm not for how long Acknowledge alerts stay in the list. The manual states the following.

I would also like to know once we acknowledge a Alert and if I want to see who has acknowledged it how can I check the acknowledged alerts for the last one month.

Hi Anjan,

I do this all the time, the easiest way to do it, is go to your active alerts window and just click on the Acknowledge time filter at the top of active alerts and it will sort the acknowledge time of the alerts for you.

There is also the "All Active Alerts" report that you can easily configure to sort by Acknowledge time.
