Java 8 181 (x86) Upgrade won't install

Has anyone else had issues with Java 8 181 (x86) upgrade installing? It has failed on all our machines. The machines download the update, but it then errors with a code 5. The x86 for x64 upgrade, which was pushed out at the same time, has installed fine.

So far all I have tried is deleting the update and republishing, but i get the same issue. Before i spend longer looking at it I was intrigued to see if it was just me or a wider issue with the update.

Not in the end. I ended up just pushing out the full version rather than the upgrade. I then just created a scheduled task to delete the previous version.

How did you create the scheduled task to delete the previous version?

I've been trying to figure out how to uninstall older versions of Java for a while now.

Sorry for not replying sooner. The way I do it is:

Within patch manager, find a computer which you know has the software installed.

Double click on the computer, to bring up the computer explorer. Then click on the installed software tab. Highlight the software you want to remove and click uninstall Software. The software must be an MSI.

It then brings up a wizard which you can configure the uninstall. I usually select, browse computers, and then select the pc's from the AD groups. Once the computers are selected, the next screen will let you configure when the uninstall runs.

I would tick 'save the task so it can be run again'. I then usually schedule the task to run every day for a 'period of time' usually at lunch time as that when most of our machines are on.

Unfortunatley i haven't found a way to getting machines to run the task when they boot up. Or the task to wake the machine. So if the machines don't get swithced on during the task period the software won't get removed.

I then just manually uninstall the software on the remaining few.

Hopefully the above has been of some use though.
