Hi there. I've just gotten around to working on improving my alerting over and above the basics and have no problems working out how to structure the alerts. What I'm struggling to understand and verify is how alerting is working on my version of SW with my polling engines ( of which I have a few ). I notice that if I configure an advanced alert on the NPM that it is reflected in the alert configuration on the polling engines too. I don't know which version of SW I'm running sorry it just says 2011.01 or somethingon the core details page - where do I find out? Anyway, I can configure an advanced alert on the npm for a node monitoried by a polling engine which includes sending an email. Where will that email be sent from then I am wondering?
Will I need to setup specifics for all my polling engines? So each one uses it's own mail gateway? I'm confused. I am also actively receiving interface down emails but cannot find where that is configured anywhere nor where it came from. When I look at the node it says it's managed from the npm but if I look at configured alerts on that guy, the one for 'Alert me when an interface goes down' has no email trigger action associated with it at all only an event log action! Yet I've got a mail!
