I took my daughter to get her permit at the County Courthouse. This was across the hall from us in the basement.
That door was open for 2 and a half hours. No traffic, no security.
It took everything in me to not just go shut the door.
Physical security is optional? No one would really tamper with stuff in there would they? Send a kid in there with a couple of cables and let them have fun making the lights blink.
No doubt closing that door would have triggered security and environmental alarms.
Security--since the state of the door's sensor changed from open to closed.
Environmental--since it was left open to control air flow and ensure temperatures don't exceed specification. Some governmental cost-cutter types probably determined they'd save money by avoiding air conditioning those rooms that only contain machines.
