Slowing IPmonitor performance with 5,500+ monitors

Our IPmonitor implementation is working great, but seems slow to respond at times. I've got 5,585 monitors and need to add more. Aside from increasing polling intervals for the monitors, what else can I do to increase performance?

I'm guessing it's a 32 bit single threaded app so will throwing more hardware at it allow me to add more monitors?

The best way to increase performance is to increase the polling time. This is due to the amount of request that are being sent out.

We had some inconsistent settings for our monitors so I have gone through them with a mass edit by following this link:

Decrease timing settings for all ping monitors - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support

I've reset our monitors as follows and would be interested in feedback from what others are doing.

For object types ping, http, https and service:

Maximum test duration: 120

Delays between tests while up: 300

Delays between tests while up: 150

Delays between tests while up: 300

Delays between tests while up: 600

For all other object types:

Maximum test duration: 120

Delays between tests while up: 600

Delays between tests while up: 120

Delays between tests while up: 3600

I forgot to mention that I did see this message and understand I'm over the product recommended limits: "You may experience performance issues with ipMonitor systems configured with more than 5000 monitors due to the limitations of a single ipMonitor instance. This may cause gaps in reports and timing issues with alerts. To resolve possible performance issues, consider reducing the monitor count, deploying another ipMonitor instance, or upgrading to Orion NPM for distributed scalability."

At this point, we are evaluating what product will meet our future needs.

I would recommend looking at our Orion solution. You can evaluate the products, and the are expandable to well over 10,000 monitors.
