Change Notification Different in NCM?

Hello,

We installed NCM a few days ago after running Cirrus V4 for about two weeks. I had been working on a nightly backup job that was set to alert me when a device changed. Each night when the job ran, if I had X changes, I got X + 1 emails, one for each change and one stating the job completed successfully. Since the upgrade to NCM, I now only get 1 email. Is this expected behavior? Is there a way to change it back? It was nice to get a separate email for each device that way I could file off the import ones and delete the unnecessary ones.

This is expected behavior and there is no way to change it back. We had received numerous requests to change this to a single consolidated email. Are there others out there that liked the previous behavior? If so, please chime in as I'm amenable to making this an option.

I kind of figured something like this was the cause. It's not a huge deal if it doesn't make it back in. I'll just break out my config backups into smaller groups.

I've been playing with the settings a little bit and I can't seem to get them to work the way I want to. I'd like the download job to alert me via email when a device changes but I don't want to see a list of all devices that downloaded a config. (I'm fine having them all in one message.) Is this possible?

You might try setting the don't save unless changed option. Or you can try running the download config job and then have a config change report that is scheduled to run afterwards.

I also preferred the separate emails. We have scheduled downloads of over 100 devices, and it was much easier to glance and see that something changed as opposed to sifting through a long email.

Thanks for the additional feedback on this one everyone. We're going to see if we can add this to the next version (no guarantees).

Here is what I'm proposing:
Add the following option to Download Config job notification settings
O Send config change notification details in a separate text email
O Send config change notification details in a separate HTML email

If this is checked, user will receive two emails. One for the job status (backed up or not backed up, errors, etc.). Another email that just includes nodes with changes detected (in text or HTML).

Does this make sense / meet your needs?
